Coming from Florida where it seems as if you own the freeway, I never had any ticket for over speeding. Not that I am a reckless driver or something, but I have never experienced being followed by a police patrol for something that I didn’t know exists.
I visited my then pregnant sister in Virginia who was already nearing her due date. A night before, we already brought her to the hospital because she was talking about labor pains already. I was out of the hospital the following day since I had to pick up some of her stuff back at home when our Mom called me and said my sister was ready.
I drove as fast as I could; Mom was the only one with her. I didn’t check my speed but I was really sure it was just barely 20mph. Then a police patrol was behind. At first, I thought he was chasing after someone else. I didn’t realize it was me.
How could I possibly commit a crime or know about Virginia reckless driving when in the first place, I was actually in an emergency! I’m having a meeting with my lawyer tomorrow and I hope the result will be favorable so I can get back to Florida right away. Good thing my sister gave birth safely. Just the worst thing, I missed that wondrous moment seeing my niece being born.
